SENIORS NEWS 2012

 The am-am, played at Brailsford on 24th April, our first event of the season, was a very enjoyable day. We were extremely lucky with the weather, playing on the only dry day in a very wet week. Winning team was Pam Lakin, Jan Young, Sammy Jones & Graham Brassington with 77 points. Best Ladies were Jan Bilbie & Cynthia Machent (38 points) and Best Men were Vic Prince & Stuart Plickles (39 points on count back).
Match v Leicestershire - 16th May at Scraptoft Leicestershire won 7-1
Well, we got well and truly whooped by the Leicestershire Vet's on Wednesday, thankfully Jan & Pam managed to win so we avoided a whitewash, many thanks. However this does mean that Derbyshire have retained the 'wooden spoon' again. Derbyshire team was Margaret Brooks & Christine Cole,  Jan Bilbie & Pam Lakin, Janet Carlin & Pat Holloway, Sheila Whitaker & Edna Beadsmoore, Sally Benn & Mary Annable, Hazel Price & Jean Bingham, Jeanette Brown & Sheila Bainbridge, Cynthia Machent & Lorraine Hopwell.

Match v Staffordshire - 26th June at Ashbourne - Staffordshire won 4-2
A very enjoyable day, despite the result - even the weather was kinder than it could have been, with just a few heavy showers and a very convivial meal was enjoyed after the match. Derbyshire Ladies were Margaret Brooks & Cynthia Machent, Jan Bilbie & Christine Cole, Sheila Whitaker & Shelagh Lancaster, Pam Lakin & Sally Benn, Jean Bingham & Val Daniels, Jeanette Brown & Jan Young.

Match v Yorkshire  - 24th August at Meltham - Yorkshire won 4.5 - 0.5
As you can see from the result, we were only able to raise a team of 10 players for this match. However, we could not have been welcomed more to Meltham by Rosamund as she was the most perfect hostess. Derbyshire were represented by  Sandra Walters & Rosemary Whitehouse,
