County Week 2012 - 11th - 15th June - The Nottinghamshire
For the County First Team, and all County Members, this week is the main event of the year. Six Midland Division counties play each other in a round robin matchplay event for a place in the EWGA County Championship finals.
A practice round and social evening start the week before the serious matches start.  The captain selects 8 players at the start of each day, who will play 3 foursome matches in the morning and 6 singles in the afternoon. A team winning 5 individual match points each day are awarded an individual point towards it’s County Week total (in the event of a tie, both counties get ½ point). The county with the most points at the end of the week will goes forward to the  EWGA Finals. Ties are decided on number of game points, or in extreme cases holes up.
It’s hard work for both the players and officials. The matches are fiercely contested but played in great spirit and the standard of golf is very high.
Your support is very much appreciated by the Captain & our Squad - if you can get along to watch any of the matches, or even help by caddying for the players, it will be very much appreciated - you will also get a chance to watch some very good, exciting golf.
